10A - Elevator Pitch No.1

10A – Elevator Pitch No. 1

9A - Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

9A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

After this round of interviews, I have learned that residents who live in my apartment complex have had issues with finding a park closer to their building. One person told me that she was not happy about walking long distance to her car with her baby, baby items and her personal things. Another person said, they don’t have a car, so the complaints don’t concern them.

Who: The neighbors who live here and pay their rent in the community, should be able to have an assigned parking space?

What: For those who don’t live in the community should be considerate of others and park their cars in the back of the apartments. Also, the property staff needs this to be addressed and resolved immediately.

Why: In order to satisfy your residents and listening to their ongoing negative feedback. This will allow all residents that you do hear their complaints and once the situation is fixed, this will be a positive change for this community.

Inside the Boundary
Outside the Boundary
Who?
Residents who don’t have an assigned parking.
Anyone who do not live in the community, should find parking in the back.
What:
Having the ability to park right by your building
What if the people who don’t live in the community make it convenience for the actual residents to find a parking spot
Why:
People are often frustrated with not being able to park by their building.
Non-residents should be considerate of others and we will not have this issue

8A – Solving the Problem

The solution to my opportunity, we as residence in our community need to speak up and step up to getting this resolved sooner than later. We as residence aim to solve the issue of the urgency of being assigned at least one parking spot closer to your apartment building.

The solution will take some time, however, the property staff have responded to our complaints and notifying each residence of their understanding of what an inconvenience this has caused for 60% of residence in this apartment community.

The assigned parking has been reviewed and stated, it is a long-term issue to be resolved. But it will be soon, expecting this resolved within the next 2 years. As, this will decrease the complaints from each resident, this will show support from the property staff that they do listen and care for their residence living issues.

7A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1
The opportunity I’m pursuing is the problem of the lack of parking in my apartment complex, in Tampa FL. The issue is being a residence her and not having at least one assigned parking for yourself. Therefore, walking a long distance to your apartment has been an escalated issue in my neighborhood.

The Who: The residence in my neighborhood
The What: Not being able to find closer parking spots to your apartment building
The Why: Inconvenience of locating spots near your building, especially for carrying groceries or other heavy items.

Testing the who: Not only are the residence of the apartments are “The Who” but also the property staff and guest
Testing the what: Being able to be assigned at least one parking spot for residence only.
Testing the why: Driving and walking long distance in the neighborhood with heavy items, your children, and other things to get to your apartment.

Interview #1: Ran into one of my neighbors outside while taking her dog on a walk, she started to state how bad parking has been. She suggested as well, that we are needing assigned parking passes for residence only.

Interview #2: Spoke with another neighbor, in which, this individual was really upset of how far of a distance she had to walk with her newborn baby and all the baby items. Also, having to walk back and forth with her child due to no parking spaces by the building. She was in fact furious.

Interview #3: This interviewee understands this has been an ongoing discussion in our neighborhood and has not input, due to not having a car. Therefore, not having many parking spots by her building does not concern her.

Interview #4: This is neighbor believes this shouldn’t be a problem. As the property staff should not have a problem supporting the residence complaints.

Interview #5: This is a property staff interviewee, who supports other residence suggestions and complaints. This employee does live in the community and has a hard time finding a park as well by their building. In result, employee has stated, this situation is in the works of being resolved to have assigned parking for residence only.

All in all, reviewing an analysis on my neighbors’ interviews, I have resulted not just myself
have been frustrated with this issue, but also multiple neighbors as well. The reason our community needs to assign at least on parking spot for residence. This will reduce the residence complaints, lower frustration for residence to find parking and, striving to resolve residence inconvenience in the comfort of their home

I    Identifying Local Opportunities

1.      1. Tropical Cyclone Nine will likely strengthen. The Bahamas and Florida are in its path.

After devastation of Hurricane Dorian destroying the Bahamas, it has been stated there is another tropical storm heading northwest to the Bahamas. But will hit an immediate landfall on Florida. They have not been able to predict how bad this tropical storm can strengthen. However, with uncertainty, this can be very stressful as the Bahamas has already been hit and now Florida with speculation of being eyed for this tropical storm.

The problem presented in this story is this storm can be strengthening to a hurricane and the name will be Humberto. Also, states, conditions are becoming favorable for a tropical depression or a tropical storm to form within the next day or so.

The Bahamas and the state of Florida has the problem. Living on an island and living in Florida, in which is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico has very high chances of facing tropical storm that strengthen into a Hurricane.
2.

          2. Six students arrested after fights break out at Middleton High School

Six students were arrested and two were taken to the hospital, when a fight broke out at Middleton High School. With many schools dealing with this issue day to day, this has been ongoing. Many fights break out due to bullying, gang related and other things that kids will normally fight about. Reading this article, it states, a boy was surrounded and tackled by many other students. In this case and analyzing the information, the student was being bullied.

The problem presented to in this story is the student who was tackled to the ground by multiple students, could have prevented this. Most students are scared to go to their teachers, principles or even parents to tell them about this occurring issue.

The teachers, students, school and the parents are the people who have the problem. In order, for this to stop taking place at school, many of the adults need to help stop this from escalating into a massive problem.

3.   3.  Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens, new SeaWorld coaster coming in 2020

Many people travel to Tampa FL for the amusement parks. In which, they are Busch Gardens and Sea World. A conference was held on Thursday regarding a new roller coaster being built at Busch Gardens. It will be the North America’s tallest hybrid coaster at more than 206 feet, with the world’s fastest and sharpest hybrid coaster drop of 91 degrees.

The problem presented in this story is building a roller coaster in Tampa FL in which, many people don’t travel to Tampa as a tourist city. Maybe this roller coaster could have been built in Orlando.

The people with the problem is the builders and the theme park, to expect this ride will be better and attract more tourist or out of town people to Tampa FL.

4.     4. The Batman walks 3-year-old girl to school after she was bullied by classmates

Spring Hill has its own Dark Knight and he came to rescue a little 3-year girl, who he walked to school after being bullied by classmates. Many little kids are now being bullied and it is starting with kids at an early age. Mother Erica of the little girl stated, daughter was coming home with bruises over her body and even a black eye. When being a 3-year old there’s no way you can defend yourself. However, the teachers or staff should be doing their jobs to defend a student that is being bullied before a situation being escalated to being physical.

The problem presented in this story, is a 3-year old child being attacked by other students. In which, in some day cares there can be older kids. Being that this child that has been abuse can not defend herself then we need to look at the staff for the blame.

The people with the problem is the school, parents of the other kids and the staff at the school. If you are not able to monitor the kids, then hire more workers.
5.
      5. Radar finds more than 120 coffins buried beneath Tampa apartment complex

A radar detected what appear to be more than 120 coffins under an apartment complex in Tampa, in which, this cemetery was lost and has not been revealed until by Tampa Bay Times. The 2.5-acre, segregation-era burial ground, in which to believe the city’s first for African Americans. This cemetery was established in 1901 on Florida Ave in Tampa FL. Back in 1951 when building the apartment complex, builders found three caskets and no investigation started to research for other coffins.

The problem presented with this; cemetery was not revealed until now. There were over 200 bodies found. Also, the problem is the builders building the apartments to not been able to detect there were dead bodies on this land.

The people with the problem is the people who started this cemetery and didn’t think to make it known to people that coffins are located on this land. Also, families not being able to visit their loved one and know about this issue. It took many years for this problem to be revealed.

Forming an Opportunity Belief - Miriam Wilson      .

1. In Tampa FL near Tampa International Airport/ West shore area, I believe there is a need for a grocery store or a small supermarket.

2. The unmet need is the fact that is this is a very popular area, lots of businesses and many apartment complexes. It’s inconvenient to drive across town to find a fresh market with quality fresh food. The need is building a fresh market store convenient by the airport. There are many businesses with many employees as well as the biggest mall in Tampa. Not having many options, many employees normally go to the mall food court or eating at all the expensive restaurants that located in the area. The need has been an important factor for the city of Tampa to consider for local residence. As many people live in this area due to the convenience of the Buccaneers stadium, airport and the mall. This need is partially being met by several different restaurants in
West shore area, but not by a single business. There are plenty 4- and 5-star restaurants, however, many people don’t like eating out all the time. Many bars in this area that partially fill this need.

3a. Noel Miller – Neighbor in Westshore development
3b. Breanna Wellington – Manager at Zara located in International Mall
3c. Mallorie Nash – TSA associate at Tampa International Airport

4a. What I learned from interviewing Noel, in which she is one of my neighbors in one of the apartment complexes in the Westshore area. She has stated, there is a big need for a convenient grocery store, specially a grocery store with healthy foods. Her belief is in order to keep residence in this area with longer residency, a healthy store (Whole Foods, Sprouts, etc.) should be built in this area.

4b. When interviewing Breanna, who is a manger in the International Mall, stated the need for a healthy grocery store is due to consistently maintaining her healthy diet. Many of the restaurants located in the mall are not healthy and nor are they good for her diet. Being that her lunch is 30 minutes, she doesn’t have time to drive 40 minutes for fresh veggies, protein drinks, etc. Many individuals like Breanna have also complained about the time and need for a healthy store.

4c. I learned from Mallorie as, like Breana, a grocery store would be convenient for them in order to save time. We all think it is important to stress a healthy fit store, which need to offer pre-made lunches and sandwiches. This seems to be most appealing to the residents in Westshore, Tampa area.

5. All in all, I truly believe that my original opportunity is still 100% a key fact. Once speaking and interviewing each individual, it seems as though I am not the only one that believes this is an opportunity. However, I do believe my opportunity is more accurate now than before because they do support my belief and the need for an opportunity in this specific area. Also, I believe that entrepreneurs should adapt as much as they can to customer feedback. Therefore, as retrieving feedback from others with the same belief is obvious that this is can become a forming opportunity.

3A: Your Entrepreneurship Story

As a little girl growing up, I’ve always like the idea of family gatherings, entertainment, sports and having a really good time. As I got into middle school and high school, I ran track and played basketball. In which, I became very athletic. Also, I was very determined to learn a lot about NBA, NFL, Tennis and other athletes. My favorite by the way was Michael Jordan. Once I got older and in the tenth grade, I immediately knew I wanted to open my own sports bar. First, I suddenly knew, it brings entertainment, sports atmosphere and large gathering with people.

Over the years, I have done a lot of research to start my own business. In which, I’ve dreamed of my sports bar two levels, with multiple TV's, lounge areas, helmets and jersey hanging around the building. Haven’t decided if I wanted to serve food, being that food has a lot more regulations involved and inspections. I will serve beer, wine and soda beverages. When top notch liquor is involved, I have read that it can be pricey, and it can be a liability when dealing with customers. Second, I have already chosen my location, once I have saved enough money and found investors to purchase the building. In which, talking to entrepreneurs they have stated, the number one success of their business is their location. I would love to be in Tampa, in YBOR which is centralized from downtown other areas of Tampa, close to big name colleges and a good area where many tourist travels to. There are many factors to consider when becoming an entrepreneur.

I took this class to give me the ability to take the risk and start this sports bar I’ve always wanted to.

30A – Final Reflection

30A – Final Reflection 1.     With no entrepreneurial experience, nor have any family or close friends that have their own business....
